I noted two or three Passer domesticus dust-
ing themselves in the earth which had col-
lected between the basalt blocks with which
California Street is paved.

Several Larus californicus on water off Ferry
Building. All were immature,
June 3, 1907.
Alameda to and from San Francisco, cal.
Conditions:- Overcast; W Wind; moderate temperature.
No birds are to be seen nowadays along the mole
and seawall.
In the evening several immature Larus californicus
and adult Larus occidentalis on the San Francisco
side. I saw four gulls standing on a piece of wood in
the water, and trying to balance themselves while the waves
from a passing steamer were making the wood dance.
