birds; one observed to alight on one of the dock sheds. In the evening a good many gulls were observed circling about high up over the bay. Two or three Larus californicus. A string of over a hundred cormorants was observed flying south in an immense wavy line. A few ducks were seen on the bay, Larus glaucescens minus leg seen. February 27, 1907. Alameda to and from San Francisco, bal. conditions:- cold in morning; moderate temperature rise of day; northerly wind; clear. In the morning a large flock of gulls was noted on the sand quite a distance from the mole. A few ducks were also seen along the mole. Quite a number of immature Larus glaucescens on the piles of the mole. In the evening Larus glaucescens was the most abundant bird about the steamer. One or two Larus californicus were seen also three or four adult Larus occidentalis at a distance. A flock of small gulls was noted on the bay yesterday. March 10, 1907. Alameda, bal, Conditions: SE wind; rain; moderate temperature. Several Ampelis cedrorum were observed feeding in the pepper trees in front of the house. Several were observed about a week ago. Two or three Myctioryn myctioryn were observed passing over towards the bay.
