San Leandro Bay, Cal. (Alameda Co.) Conditions: Warm, windy, and somewhat overcast Friday. Stormy Saturday. Gavia pacifica. One Sat. in canal. Lumme. Two or three white-throated birds. Larus californicus. Fairly common. Sterna forsteri. Common. Aythya collaris. One or two. " marila. " clangula. A few. Oidemia peropicillata. One or two. Friday. Ardea herodias. One or two. Nycticorax nycticorax. Fairly common. Macrorhamphus griseus. A few. Tringa canutus. One in deep slough Friday. Very common in Melrose slough. Pelidna alpina. Common in Melrose slough. Creundes occidentalis. Not very common. Symphemia semipalmata. 3 or 4. Totanus melanoleucus. Mr. Beck got one Friday. Limosa fedoa. A few. Numenius hudsonicus. Very common. Squatarola squatarola. Three or four. Regalitis semipalmata. Common. One seen above tide water in San Leandro slough. The courting antics (?) of these birds are as follows:— A bird will ruffle up its feathers and run at another flicking like a hen and winding up by giving sort of cackle. I obtained a nest containing 5 eggs of Euphagus cyano- cephalus from a willow tree near San Leandro Creek.
