Macrochamphus scolopaceus; Striuga canitius (1), Eremete occidentalis, Totanus onelanolensoul, Symphemia semis- palmata, Numenius longirostris(1), Squatarola squata- rola, and Aegialitis semipalmata, also Rallus obsolectus. He obtained a set of nine eggs from a nest near the S.P. C. R.R. MAY - 1 1905 Alameda, bal. to and from San Francisco, cal. Conditions:-- Stormy, particularly after noon. A few ducks are still to be seen along the mole. In the morning I saw only Oidemia deglandi. In the evening I also saw a small flock of Dythya merta. Larus californicus is abundant on the bay. Mr. Beck obtained the following birds from Ala- meda to day: Macrochamphus griseus; Eremete occidentalis; Squat- arola squatarola, one in winter plumage; Larus philadelphia. Yesterday afternoon while down at the beach in the afternoon when the wind was blowing quite hard from the west and the tide was fairly high I noted the following:-- Larus philadelphia, common, come with mottled heads; Larus californicus, one or two; sandpipers, common; Nycticorax nyc- ticorax, one. When returning I noticed a flock of curlew flying over the town, uttering loud calls at the same time. MAY - 5 1905 and MAY - 6 1905 June: 6:00 A M. to 6:00 P.M.
