Ducks are fairly common along the mole. One cormorant here. In the evening on the bay Larus californicus was abundant; Larus glaucus seen few, and Larus occidentalis, two. Off Goat Island we came across one Larus philadelphia. Along the seawall and mole we saw quite a few ducks, mostly Aythya marila. APR 11 1905 I'm going to and from the city ducks were not common. There were quite a few sandpipers and gulls on the beach. APR 12 1905 Saw Leandro Bay, Alameda, Cal. 6:00 A.M. to 9:30 A.M. Conditions: - Warm; west wind; clear. The following birds were observed, principally S.W. of the railroad:- Gavia immer. One. Gavia lumme. Quite a few. Larus. Very common. Larus californicus and Larus philadelphia, common. I saw one Larus occidentalis. A great many of the last two species were on the beach above the Bay Farm Island bridge. Sterna forsteri. Quite common. Cormoranta. Very few. Pelicans californicus. One Ducks were common:- Mergus serrator. A few. Aythya valisineria. Fairly common.
