7:00 A.M. to 8:00 A.M. and 5:15 P.M. to 5:40 P.M. Conditions: -obar; warm; light winds. Both in the morning and evening ducks were very common along the mole and gulls were abundant on the sand - about two hundred at each time. On the bay the following gulls were seen:- Larus californicus, common; Larus glaucescens not quite so com- mon; Larus occidentalis, one adult in the morning; Larus ar- gentatus, one immature bird in the evening; Larus canus and Lar- sus brachyrynchus, common off the city front. In the evening a few ducks were seen on the water off Goat Island, also a few off the seawall near Fifth Street. Three Oidemia deglandi and two loons were seen passing to the south. FEB 22 1905 Alameda, Cal. (San Leandro Bay in the morning; outside in the after- noon.) 7:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. Warm; foggy in the morning; clear, west wind in the afternoon. In the morning the following birds were observed:- Gulls. A few. Larus californicus. One young bird shot. No terns seen. Several large flocks of ducks observed:- Aythya valisineria, abundant; Aythya affinis, common, probably also Aythya marila. Oidemia deglandi. Two. Erythraea jamaicensis. Common. One of the two females which I shot showed a ruddy tinge on the breast. Ardeola herodias. Two or three. Pelidna alpina. Common.
