saw a large flock of sand pipers in a slough. A flock of about twelve cirls were seen up San Leandro slough this afternoon. FEB 11 1905 Alameda, bal. to and from San Francisco, bal. 7:00 A.M. to 8:00 A.M. and 5:15 P.M. to 5:40 P.M. cool; north wind; clear. There were few ducks along the seawall, but along the mole there were a good many. On the Bay Larus glaucescens was abundant, fol- lowing the boat in great numbers. Saw only one or two Larus Californicus. Larus canus or Larus brachyrynchus was quite common of the city. A few ducks and loons were seen going north. In the evening the following birds were seen :- Larus glaucescens. Abundant. Larus argentatus. Two immature birds. Larus Californicus. Two followed us over. Larus canus or Larus brachyrynchus. Common. I heard many of these uttering their cries, which consisted of a squeak or meow. Two or three flocks of ducks of about seven each passed to the north. Two ducks and fifteen loons passed to the south. The latter were flying high and singly. One Merganser and many ducks seen along the mole. FEB 12 1905 Alameda, bal. Conditions :- cool; clear; north wind. At home during the morning I saw the following birds :-
