Mrs. Loomis observed the following birds while crossing on
the "Key Route Ferry":-
Larus glaucescens. Abundant.
Larus californicus. A few.
Larus occidentalis. Two.
Larus canus
Larus brachyrynchus } Abundant off Goat Island.
Fulmarus glacialis. One rather light colored individual.
Some of the gulls which I have been recording since the middle
of December as Larus californicus were really Larus canus or
Larus brachyrynchus.

Alameda, Cal. to and from San Francisco, Cal.
7:00 A.M. to 8:00 A.M. and 5:15 P.M. to 5:40 P.M.
Ducks were abundant along the seawall and mole; those
quite close appeared to be mostly Blangula clangula and Aythya
rallisneria.
I rode inside the steamer. On the San Francisco side a flock
of about fifty Larus canus or Larus brachyrynchus flew away from
in front of the slip as the steamer drew near. Larus californicus,
a few; Larus argentatus, 2 immature specimens.
In the evening Larus canus or Larus brachyrynchus were
fairly swarming about the slip. They did not come close to the steamer
as did the Larus glaucescens. Many of them were sitting on the water;
some would occasionally pick up something. They were not very noisy.
The Larus glaucescens, however, were flying continually about the boat.
One even alighted on the forward lower deck. I saw only one or two
