Alameda, Cal.
5:30 A.M. to 8:30 A.M.
Conditions: - bold; rather-clear; light SE. wind.
We got into a blind on "grassy point." On the way
over we scared up a few birds; of course it was dark.
A few flocks of ducks passed over us going toward the
open bay. A few large gulls also passed over.
2:00 P.M. to 6:30 P.M.
Conditions: bold; rather clear; no wind.
The following birds were seen and some shot:-
Larus glaucaceus. A few on edge of mud.
" occidentalis. One dead one.
" californicus. A few on mud.
Phalarocorax. One seen in flight.
Vettion carolinensis. Common.
Aythya vallisonia. "
" affinis. Three.
Erioptera jamaicensis Common.
Ardea herodias 3 or 4. Nycticorax nycticorax 2.
Veladna alpina. Common.
Squatarola squatarola: A few. Hawk (Buteo?). one.
Melospiza citrea: A few.
