Larus californicus. Saw several. Philadelphia. A flock of about 40 on water halfway between Chestnut St. & McCartney's; mostly adults with light heads. Sterna forsteri (?) a few. Ducks. Good ducks fairly common. A good many small ducks. Oidemia deglandi. Very common. Perpicillata. Ardea herodias. Saw two in marsh. While off McCartney's I saw a hawk high up above the island; also two gulls in a like position. In the backyard I saw a few Otragalinus pectinatus and cosmos brush (Cosmos bipinnatus).
