Streptopelia risoria. (Barbary Turtle Dove.)
July 27, 1908.
This morning I found a very young nestling dead on the
ground quite a ways from the post on which the nest
is placed.
Aug. 2, 1908.
This morning I found another very young nestling on
the ground. It had apparently been dead two or three
days. On looking into the nest on the post I found
two eggs on which (No. 29) was sitting. She and her
mate (No. 22) seem to have control of this nest now, having
driven (Nos. 30 and 31) from it. Perhaps also they
knocked the young out. The two males, 22 and
30, have been doing considerable fighting re-
cently, 22 having been victor.
Aug. 5, 1908.
Nos. 30 and 31 have one egg in the box on the east
side of the chicken house.
Aug. 8, 1908.
At noon to-day the two male Streptopelia risoria,
the male Columba livia, and the male Zenaidura caro-
meniis were each respectively on their nests having re-
lieved the females. I found another youngster on the
ground, so apparently there were three hatched.
