Alameda to San Francisco, bal.
Conditions: - 7:00 to 8:00 A.M. Overcast; cold; west
wind.
A good many Passe rdomesticus were seen.
Along the mole I saw the following birds:-
Gulls. Several hundred too far off its identify; most
resting on the water.
Ardea herodias. Six in water.
Loons (probably Gavia pacifica). Two on water.
Curlew or godwit. Flying high parallel to the mole.
On the bay I saw the following:-
Larus californicus, common.
" delawarensis, a few.
" heermanni, a few.
San Francisco to Alameda mole, bal.
Conditions: - 5:15 P.M. & 5:35 P.M. Overcast; cool;
west wind.
The following birds were observed:-
Larus occidentalis. Two. One near the docks; the
other off Goat Island.
Larus californicus. Common. Young abundant.
" delawarensis. A few.
" heermanni. A few.
Sterna forsteri (?) One on piece of drift off Goat Island.
Mr. Henshaw says he saw a few Larus dela-
marensis, one Larus occidentalis and a flock of
terns off Goat Island.
