Streptopelia risoria. (Barbary Turtle Dove).
May 11, 1908.
The birds finally have deserted the egg, which
I broke and found infertile.
May 25, 1908.
Bought three from Robison Bros. to-day, nos. 29, 39,
and 31. Occasionally hear these birds cooing at night
especially if it is moonlight. All coo, both males
and females.
May 30, 1908.
I picked up an egg on the ground to-day and
placed it in a nest. There are two birds incubat-
ting it now.
May 31, 1908.
I broke the egg, mentioned above, this morning.
This afternoon I found the bird sitting on a
fresh egg. Another pair are nesting in a box on a post.
June 5, 1908.
No. 24, the bird I disposed of had the habit of
sitting on the nest of Nos. 22 and 23, although both
ofted drove it away.
