1938 Nov. 10 (contin). Spotted & Brown Towhees, St. Luis Junco, Gambel, Purple Jd., and Y.C. Sparrows, Song Sparrow. 26 species. Nov. 11. Clear, cold. First frost of season. In the afternoon we drove to Boulder Creek. Nov. 12. Very cold night with heavy frost in the morning. Bird Pool frozen solid. Wanne in Arushire. Finished planting daffodils. Birds: Sparrow Hawk, Chickadee, Pygmy Wrenwatch, Black Choclee, Hermit Thrush, Junco, Spotted Towhee. On the way home I saw eight or ten flocks of juncoes feeding at the edge of The highway between Boulder Creek and Saratoga. Very cold drive home. Nov. 13. Warmer, clear. Heard Titmouse sing before I got up - "Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet" Wrentz sang. Also Varied Thrush. Flock of quad in the garden. No Anderson Warblers. Nov. 14. Faculty Bird Section went to the Bay Shore. Tide going out. At Fleming Point: Bonaparte Gulls very abundant, all in winter plumage. Clopper Rails 3 Bluebellied Plovers, a few 6+ Wilets " 8+ { Red-backed Sandpipers very ab., Sanderling " 4 W. and L. Sandpipers ~ a few
