Between the Pinnacles and Hollister many W. Kingbirds
Yb. Magpies, Meadowlarks, Blackbirds, Lark Sparrows
on Lewis Mosspecker - Sparrow Hawks esp. at.
between King's City & the Pinnacles. Birds common in S.F. Bay region which I noticed elsewhere
Purple Finch, Robin, Purset-backed Thrush.
June 20. Berkeley. A Purset-backed Thrush sang continuously
at dawn and later just east of the house under
my window. It must be nesting nearby. The
House Wrens are feeding young in the titmouse box.

June 21. Went to Boulder Creek, Ill. I heard W. Tanager repeatedly,
Black-Throated Gray Warbler heard several times. Olive-
sided Flycatcher nearer than five weeks ago.
I heard Water Thrush once (June 22). Allen Hemmingbird
females, nectars the flowers. Cool, fog in morning.
June 24. Berkeley. Purple Finch, Purset-backed Thrush. House
Wren singing early. I heard Tolmie Warbler singing
very softly.
June 26. No wren song heard but young are being fed in box.
June 27, 28. Boulder Creek. W. Tanager singing from
tops of redwood trees nearby - About 6 p.m.
June 27 a group of V. Swallows appeared,
some flying very low. Seen again next morning.
Washing Vine scale with tins up, still together:
Grackles quiet. Olive sided Flycatcher calling. Blue-
gave the three-syll. call - (a-fee-hew), another in
distance. Two notes only. Male Purple Finch seen
of his mate accompanied. Cool, partly cloudy.
