Fletcher Kingfisher, Calif. Woodpecker, Nuttall Woodpecker (Alum. Black Phoebe, W. Flycatcher, W. Wood Pewee (Alum R.), W. Kingbird (Cal. Dam), Barn Swallow, Cliff Swallow, Yellow-billed Magpie (Sund), Calif. Jay, Coast Jay, Crow at Calaveras Dam; Titmouse and Chickadee (Chant-mut- voiced (Santa Cruz?)) both in Alum Rock Park - Bush.Tits; Slender-billed Nuttatch, Wren-Tit (only one heard), Rock Wrens (at Cal. Dam.), Canyon Wren (Al. R.), Vigor's House Wrens also at A.R., Thrasher, Varied Thrush (plausibly seen on roof of small bldg. at Alum Rock, W. Bluebird at Cal. Dam, Robin in valleys, W. Gnatcatcher, Cal. Dam, Shrike Warbling Vireo, Indecent Warbler, Tolmie Warbler, Yellow Warbler, Brewer Blackbird, Redwing, Oriole, Meadow Lark, Grosbeak, Lazuli Bunting, Linnet, 1st Goldfinch, Brown Towhee, Spotted Towhee, Lark Sparrow, Junco (at Alum Rock Park), Chipping Sparrow, Golden-c. Sparrow, Song Sparrow, Cloudy, cool. 59 Species. April 25. A Bullock's Oriole was calling in the woods east of the house at 6:45 a.m. Later I heard the whistle of the Russet-backed Thrush. Apr. 27. Boulder Creek. W. Tangagers were immer- os - A Russet-backed Thrush was heard once. Yellow Warblers were singing - (Other birds as noted earlier). Apr. 30. At Savenap Station birds were very abundant and in full song: Mockingbird, Oriole, B. Black, Meadowlark, Grosbeak, Yellow Warblers etc. At the Humberland Bee Ranch: Lazuli Bunting & Yellow Warbler, one Audubon Warbler.
