Flicker box where J.T.A. says he hears Scrub
Chick stretching about every night. Grosbeak
singing.
Hot - 8° in San Francisco. 2 Burrowing (also on fence)
Apr.13. At the Alvarado pond, we found
about 15 Yellowlegs (possibly one Lesser),
4 Dovetails, Sandpipers (some Redbills
in full plumage), and several Shovelers.
Apr.14 Boulder Creek. Cooler. Birds heard:
Western Flycatcher, Cassia Vireo (female
taking spiraea bark for a nest); male,
staying in same bush and singing softly);
Warbling Vireo, Lutecent Warbler - Bicolored,
Black-Throated Gray, one Grosbeak, - all
singing. J.T.A. heard the Olive-sided Flycatcher.
Reached home in Berkeley at 3 p.m.
Robins, Purple Finches, Pine Siskins in
the oaks. Y.C. Sparrow singing. Titmouse
Went to Regat Moffitt Garden party -
Heard Buget Sound Sparrow on the way.
In the Moffitt garden I heard Robin,
Warbling Vireo, Western Flycatcher, Titmouse,
Bushtit (saw a pair), Warbling, Grosbeak,
Spotted Turkee, Song Sparrow.
April 15. Clear. Cold N.W. wind. A Red-breasted Nut-Hatch
was calling outside my window. House Wrens
still at the tree next to dining room window.
April 16. Warner. Fletcher group spent morning in
Ruble Rd. region. Audubon Warblers singing.
Those with white throats were Myrtle Warblers,
I suppose. No Kinglets, One Hermit Thrush.
