Titmowes were building in a bird box.
March 28. Charter Day. Raining.
March 29. Cloudy early, heavy rain all day
and all night.
Before 9 a.m. I noticed many songs
in the trees east of the house: Titmouse,
Wren-tit, Spotted Towhee, Song Sparrow.
Winter Visitants: Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Hermit Thrush,
Juncos (flocks), Fox Sparrow, White-crowned Sparrow.
Summer Visitants: House Wren, Lutecent Warbler,
Bleeding Warbler. New leaves are
out on the oaks and even the sparrows are
feeding on the worms.
March 30. Still raining: -2 in. + in 24 hours.
Saw birds as yesterday except that I did
not see White-crowned Sparrow or Hermit
Thrush. But there was a large flock
of Audubon Warblers present. I could
see their pulling out the worms.
March 31. Heard the call notes of a Hermit
Thrush. A Western Flycatcher was
calling continuously east of the house.
Rain most of the day.
April 1. Beautiful sunny day. House Wren with
mate at the box I cleaned out yesterday.
W.Flycatcher calling. I have not detected
the presence of a mate. H. Thrush, Fox Sparrow,
Bus.Warblers, Juncos in oaks.
