American Egrets were conspicuous, to seen.
Spoonbills - two groups 36+; Gulls, esp.
Ringbills and Bonapartes; An abundance of
Redbacks, Western Sandpipers, Dovetilers,
Willetts, B.b. Clover, Godwits; Also a number
of Longbilled and Hudsonian Curlews and Avocets.
I did not see any Yellowlegs. Probably three
were Least Sandpipers but I did not see
them through my glass. The low lying fog
and the fact that I had broken my bifocals
made it hard to scrutinize species closely.
We had an hour at the Colleto without
rain. Many seeds are up. Weather warm.
They reported 9.22 in. rain since Dec. 31.
We returned by the Los Gatos Highway but
all the new part of the road (summit) was
in the dense cloud. Heavy rain from Mission
Saw goes to Oakland Berkeley.
Jan. 4-10 Almost continuous heavy rain.
About 7 inches; so that we are above normal.
Robins are very abundant. They are clearing
the colorasters of berries along the pathways-
in different sections A thrasher sings
continuously each morning near the house.
Jan. 11 Still raining.
Jan. 12, Wind changed to N.W. Clouds broken.
Since weather was apparently changing
we packed up and started to Los Angeles.
We went first to Boulder Creek where we
found they had had 2.8 inches of rain.
