At Mt.-Vnis Marsh the tide was too far out for a comparative count but Willets, Troup-tailed and Hudsonian Curlews were numerous and three Black-bellied Plovers were seen, out in full plumage. Boulder Creek. July 16, 17- I saw the hawks which flew ahead of me as I drove down our roadaway (R.R. track). It looked too large for a Sw. Sh. and quite brown on the back, and wings. I think it must be a Cooper- Hawk. The Nutton Vires is still about and an Ash-throated Flycatcher gave this "Tree-dean" note as he flew through the place. A W.W. Warbler sang just below the cottage again. A family of Vigor's Wrens were near the cottage much of the time and I heard the call-note of a House Wren several times. The Her- mit Thrush was heard in the middle of the day. July 17. At Mt. Vnis Marsh we had to wait nearly an hour for the tide & flood out and then found the birds came in first at the north end of the marsh. Our count in- cluded 3 Bl. Plover (no black), 36 Eg. Curlew, 40 Hudsonian Curlew, 100+ Willets, and about a flock of Sandpipers (sp.?)(7-2 sec) At Drumbar-ton Bridge: Three kinds of Birds: Caspian, 15-20 Forster, Least. Avocets & Willets at July 15. 14 Phal. 15 Least. 6+ 15+ 5 Western Sandpipers.
