Mar. 26 (contin)
way of Palo Alto as stopped a few
minutes at Mt. View Marsh. The tide
was just coming in as a comparison
of numbers of birds present was not
representative. The Curlews there (12-14) were
almost all Longbills (comp. Woodlanding Mar. 24)
Several Bb. Plover were in full plumage.
Two small Yellowlegs kept together constantly
and one was much darker on the wings
than the other; Sandpipers were mostly
Western. No Dotterels, Avocets. Only
a few Godwits.
At Dumbarton Bridge the usual Eared
Grebes and Spotted Ducks, often feeding
Together in a close bunch. Too dark to
see if the Grebes were changing into breeding
plumage. Only two or three Cliff Swallows.
Rain in spots on the way home.

The "Chat Club" went to Lake Merced
and Golden Gate Park. Clear. Wind
from ocean strong and cold, esp. at
Lake Merced. Warmer in park.

Some of the Eared Grebes were in
almost complete breeding plumage-
with the eye flame colored - very
striking.
