Scattered than when the tide is right. There
were no wheeling flocks - About half a dozen
Godwits and the same number of Avocets
were seen. Killdeer were abundant and
Calling excitedly as if mating were near.
Weather warm, esp. at Boulder Creek, where
the air was clear. Oceais and Almonds in
bloom; mustard and in one orchard a
complete carpet of lavender pink alfalace.
In Santa Clara I heard a mocking bird
singing. In the S. Cruz. Mt., I saw a
Turtley Buzzard.
Feb. 20. Still warm. Light frost early a.m.
The Weber Group went to Contra Costa Co!
first to Saint Mary's College reservoir,
where we saw Buffle Ducks and a few
a Restable pair of Spangled Hawks
Ring-necked Ducks, a Killdeer, two Black
Phoebes, Titmouse, Hermit Thrush, many
Western Bluebirds, a Ruby-crowned Kinglet
(singing), a Befit, many Audubon Warblers,
Bronze Spotted Towhees, White-crowned and
Golden-crowned Sparrows, Song Sparrow (singing)
Liwicets were heard. Also a Nuttall Sparrow
gave a full song - which surprised me.
The Bluebirds and many Aud. Warblers
were on the roof of the reduction plant
where they evidently found food.
On the road across to Lafayette we saw
two large flocks of Cedar Waxwings. There
were many Meadows Larks singing, and
