Hundreds of Bonaparte Gulls on the East Pool - Salt Pool - A hundred probably Willets & Godwits
partying in the oceons, A few Reddy Ducks and two
Egrets. Between the bridge and Alvarado there
were thousands of gulls following the tractors
and as it grew darker many were flying
toward the bay. Much plowing being done and
every tractor seen was at the head of a
white line of gulls.
Jan.13. I swept out the bird pools and put
out food. Half an hours later a flock
of Bush Tito was bathing - also two PC
Knights, 1 female Spotted Towhee and one
Song Sparrow. The Song Sparrow drove away
the knights and Bush Tito before going into
the water. A Titmouse was coming frequently
at the table and a Hermit Thrush to the Toyon
Warm - partly cloudy (or foggy)-
Jan.14,15. Warm, springlike. Thrasher singing
continuously. Also Wrentit, Song Sparrow
and Titmouse occasionally. Rain at night(15%)
Clear
Jan.16. Started at 3 p.m. to Boulder. Colder and
clearly in the mountains but became warmer
at night. No frost or ice.
Jan.17. It began to rain about 9 a.m. as we could do
very little outside. James saw a flock of
about 50 Cedar Waxwings. Started home at 1.25 p.m.
At not Bird Island Tide was high, No birds but gulls,
At Sumbarton Bridge Salt Pools several hundred
Cared Gulls & Bon Gulls 8-100+ Damburn.
