Fifth Stop: San Mateo Bridge, east end. The gate at
the north was open as we drove off the
Causeway. In the Salt pools: Avocets (60+);
Willets 50+; Godwits (10+) bunched; Yellow-legs
(Lesser) 2, Least and Red-backed Sandpipers 30;
B-b-Flower a few. Bon. Tullis - 20+
When the tide began to pull out birds flew
across to the Bay Shore, coming in from
all directions. Even Avocets came to the shore.
A number of Forster's Terns appeared -
One American Golden-eye flew over.
As we drove away the ladies in the other
car saw three birds which from their
description must have been Long-tulled
Curlews.
About 34 species.
Nov. 23 - Nov. 27 - Clear with occasional north-
east winds. Nov. 25 at Mountain View
Marsh, Tide coming in. Birds abundant,
esp. Dovetiters, Red-backed Sandpipers and
Godwits. One White Pelican, one Lesser
Yellowlegs seen. Only two Long-tulled Curlews
seen. Twenty minute survey. At Dun-
barlin Bridge Eared Grebes were very abundant.
No Avocets seen at either place.
Nov. 28. Cloudy, some rain at night. [illegible] Fox-Dr.
Nov. 29. Cloudy. No rain. Tuesday Group
went to Lake Merritt, first to the Euber-
Cadero where Canvasbacks, Ruddies, Bluewils
were abundant; many Pintails and Baldpates.
