Nor.20. Clear, warm. At Mt. View Marsh at
2 p.m., tide just going out:
Black-bellied Clover - a fair number - scattered.
Long-billed Curlew - 10+ near highway
Hudsonian Curlew - 10+ " "
Willet - many scattered
Yellowlegs (sp?) - one
Least Sandpiper - scattered flocks
Red-backed Sandpiper - abundant
Dowitcher - abundant
Wilson Sandpiper - a few
Godwit - very abundant -
Avocet - 20-40. A few pintail-spred species
It was impossible to estimate total, as
the birds were scattered over the whole
marsh as far as we could see. Numbers
refer to those near the highway. I believe
10,000 would not be too large a number
for the total of all birds in the marsh.
Dumbarton Bridge:
West side: Clapper Rails numerous.
Sandpipers - no stops made
East side: Sand Grebes - five large groups (2,00+).
{Willet} One group on
{Sandpipers} a long sand bar.
Godwits - none
Avocets - one large group - 50+
White Pelicans - 2
American Egrets - 20+
No ducks -
