1935-
Aug.24. At Dumbarton Bridge - incoming tide. Many White
Pelicans (50+), many more gulls than in July (almost none), Northern Phal. ab. (1000), also Sandpiper
which came in flocks on to the roadway - Swarms
of flies creeping along near the pavement - probably
alive on pavement but did not make sure. No
swallows seen. One Willet, two Blue Herons, Large
Terns in the distance were probably Caspian.
No grebes or ducks.
Aug.25. Beautiful day - clear at sunrise. Increasing
cloudiness but warm - A few drops of rain on way
home over the mountain.
Aug.26. Raining (Berkeley). Heard the whistle of a Pt.
Thrush at dawn - first after several weeks silence-
Warm, very humid - like a tropical rain.
Aug.27. Cooler, partly cloudy - Tanagers and Plo. Nuttall's near.
Aug.28.
Sept.1-2. Thrasher singing off and on all morning.
Sept.4. Grackle
Song Sparrows at dawn. Went at a little later.
Sept.2-3. Cold fog most of the time. Thrasher singing.
Sept.7. A yellow-billed Magpie nest. Miss. San Jose & M'deals.
Sept.8. Boulder Creek - A Rurret - backed Thrush
whistled several times at dawn. W. Wood
Perce family on wire. No other summer
visitors. No winter vintanto. Many families
or flocks of Driad, Juncoes, Bo-Tankees (Calls 'youn,
tho' full grown), Chickadees, Creepers, Bluebirds.
Kingfisher and Hutton Vireos heard. No songs - Warm.
Sept.9. Neda Sweet flock of yellow-billed Magpies.
Sept.10. Still Cold fog in Berkeley. Thrasher singing
heard Tanager.
