33 Goshawks - light gray, long tail, broad short wings The first I have ever seen. Later we went to the Fleinbacher place about 4 miles south of Tahoe City where we climbed to the top of the precipitous rocks near the highway - We had a beautiful view of the lake and the snowy peaks across to the north and east and south west. more showing much snow than before the rains - As we came down, a Hermit Thrush, sang beautifully - repeating its phrase in several keys - Had combination dinners with Mrs. Hamlin. The oldest son Bob told me he saw a couple on the lake with about ten little ones (Wood Duck) June 9 - Sat. Started home (Redding) at 10 a.m. - Warmer, sunnier morning. At Donner Pass saw a Sharp-Shinned Hawk, Lincoln's Sparrow near Torte. As we reached the valley the weather became quite hot. Came via Davis, Dayton, Carquinez Bridge. Reached Redding 6 p.m. Complete list of birds seen at Tahoe : 1. Gull (sp?) - perhaps California. A few seen. 2. St. Blue Heron - seen twice near Mrs. Hamlin's. 3. Killdeer - heard several times from cottage, also wanted 4. Spotted Sandpiper - several along shore near island. 5. Sparrow Hawk - seen twice near Cottage. 6. Duck - one seen flying below Mrs. Hamlin - large. 7. Flicker - several. 8. White-headed Woodpecker - several. 9. Olive-sided Flycatcher - ab. 10. W. Wood Bunner - ab. 11. Hammond Flycatcher - seen once, top of young tree 12. Wright - in mangrovia
