Preset-backs Thrush, W. Robin, Warbling Vireo,
Lutescent, Paleolates and Yellow Warbler, Brewer
Bluebird, Bullock's Oriole, Meadowlark, Grosbeak,
Layuli Bunting, Lusinet, Chew-backed, Willow and
Lawrence Goldfinch, Spotted & Brown Towhee,
Cliffspire Song Sparrows. Everything singing- 36 of.
May 5. Beautiful day. Drove to Boulder Creek via
Grizzly Peak, Brush, Saratoga etc.
Many Layuli Buntings heard near Grizzly Peak.
At Mission Bridge a Long-tailed Chat Yellowthroat
and Tule Wren were singing. Swallows seen,
and one St. Blue Heron. Several Turkey
Buzzards near the summit. A Barn
Owl heard from cottage in evening (last
week also)
May 6. Beautiful day- Clear warm. Black-throated
Gray Warbler singing constantly: Yellow W. also
and occasionally Lutescent & Paleolates. Preset-
backed Thrush singing near cottage. Cassin's
Warbling Vireo near, Olive-sided Flycatcher within
hearing. A great deal of song from the usual species
On the way home heard Cliffspire Sparrows and Wood
Pewee, and heard Willard's Speckled Warbler almost up to
Grizzly Peak; last week at summit of Fife Road
Road.
