points. As we returned many of the Sandpipers
were on the sandy beaches, running after
the waves and rushing back ahead of
them. On the ocean was a flock of 50 Western Grebes
White-crowned Sparrows heard
along the highway, were all Pigeonwrens.
Rain at night. Heard B.C. Knight at Berkeley.
(Oct.18. Many Fox Sparrows, Hermit Thrushes, Some
B.C. Knights, Warblers (sounded like Black-thr.
Gray) Heavy rain as we left at 2 p.m. No
rain elsewhere on way home.
(Oct.19. Fox Sparrows come for seeds. Thrashers
for water. Many Hermit Thrushes. No
rain yet. Faculty Section went to
P.T. Fleming. Wildeer in great abundance
100+, Least Sandpipers, 13 b. Plows.
Western Gulls, 1 small flock pintails flew
over, Egrets, Willow Goldfinches, Bryant
Sparrows, Song Sparrow, Puget Sound and
Metall Sparrows, And. Warbler, Linnets
Meadowlarks and Blackbirds seen. Cold
wind blowing.
(Oct.24. Still no rains. At Santa Cruz-Black-
Throstle's Sandpiper and W. Grebes as last week.
(Oct.28. Lady Birds went to Drumbaron Bridge and
Mr. Vaid Marsh. Warm, Clear. No wind Ann.
At Drumbaron
Egrets and 6 Brown Egrets, a few Crocets,
1000+ Willets, a few Godwits, Eared Grebes and
one Western Grebe, 6-8 Pintails besides Blue
and Black-co. Night Herons, W.L. & Red b. Sandpipers
(one Spotted Sandpiper Seen (on raft at 3.00))
