June. Boulder Creek.
flew into one of these holes and did not
come out while we were there - 5-10 mins.
Very beautiful after the rain.
June 16. James and D. took lunch and
walked up to top of Ben Lomond, Mt.
by trail from Boulder Creek, down by
road to Ben Lomond. Found branch road
last 1 1/2 mi. across to Brookdale.
Found many new flowers. 5 Turkey
Buzzards circled about the summit.
Several Hermit Thrushes heard, each
one at head of a remote canyon.
Many Vigors wrens in oak belt at
top of ridge. W. Tanagers near Mr.
Walter Cherry orchard in high red
woods 1 1/4 mi. above Ben Lomond.
June 17. Allen H. at Johnson cottage
still feeding. Young featured. Fed
twice during hour watched.
Juncoes fed young in fern basket
every 5 to 7 minutes. Only 2 young.
June 18. Returned to Berkeley. Warm.
June 19. Hot. Garden full of blooms, Canterbury
Bells, Watsonias, Marigoldes,
Calceolarias etc., etc.
June 20. Cliff Swallows about.
