1918. Jan. Feb. March Jan. 12. Rain at last! Hills not yet green. No robins except an occasional straggler. Winter has been except- ionally warm and dry as far. jan. 15. Heard Killdeer call as it flew over in early dawn- Rain: warm. Feb. 10. Walk with D.F. Audubon Association on U.C. Campus. Vigris Wrens and Bush-tits prospecting for nests. Weather warm. No heavy rains yet. Hills brown. Flickers giving spring call. Sreech owl that has been roosting in flicker box given to museum-alive. Feb. 17. Rain. Titmice seem to enter box. Feb. 22. Allen Hummer here. Titmice in box again. Hills green. Feb. 28. Saw one swallow fly about near trashbins. Mar. 2. Rusty Song Sparrow appeared on feeding table. Had not been seen all winter. Mr. Dayton came to table Photographs of birds on feeding table. Warm Fruit trees in blossom. Heard Allen H. again.
