Dec. 9. Heard Varies Thrush - first time this year. The continued warm weather lasted Till Thanksgiving when it rained. This was followed by clear colder weather with more or less cold east wind. Birds have come more regularly for food as there has been no rain and no green glass or other fresh vegetation. Banded Song Sp., S. F. Towhees and one Brown Towhee are constantly seen at the fountain or table - the Br. Towhee less frequently than the others. No banded winter visitors have been seen through Fox Sparrows are about every day and Golden Crowned Sparrows occasionally. Even birds banded by Mr. Claybaugh a little farther up the canyon near the swimming pool have not been detected here. Many Intermediate Sparrows have come to the pool on warm days but they hurry past, not remaining to feed. Have had no time for trapping or for trips.
