23. Rained quite hard last night. Saw Vaux Swift near Mr.
Alvany Cottage.
24. Clear, beautiful day.
25. Took boy scouts for walk. Found Chipping Sparrow, Linnet,
Cliff Swallow, Song Sparrow, Black Phoebe, Vaux Swift,
Calif. Woodpecker, Female Black-headed Grosbeak,
Yellow Warbler and Black-throated Warbler (female)
beside many others seen on previous trips.
Young Brown Thrushes left nest on clothes line.
28. Warm. Found nest of Rust-backed Thrush.
29. Boy scouts lesson - Thrushes nest, Brown Thrushes nest,
Tanny Creeper, W. Flycatcher, W. Red-tailed Hawk.
July 2. Boy scouts last lesson. Nest of Olive-sided
Flycatchers at end of first horizontal branch in
large redwood on river bank. Feeding young.
Nest of Ash-treated Flycatchers in tree about
forty feet away. Added Pine Siskin to list. Hot.
Lazuli Bunting singing near cottage yesterday
& today.
July 6. Lesson with Wood-craft Boys - Olive-sided Flycatchers
feeding young in big redwood tree above Boulder
Creek pool. Violet-green Swallows feeding
young young in nest in cornice of old building
next Bear Creek Road.
July 9. Drove to Big Basin. Azaleas still in bloom.
July 11. Spent day on beach - Capitola, Santa Cruz
