July 26. W. Flycatcher still feeding 2nd brood.
Beautiful sunny days.
July 27. Thrush whistled at dawn but did
not sing.
July 30. Prof. L. H. Miller came to tea.
Aug. 2. Young W. Flycatchers visible above top of nest.
Heard B.h. Grosbeak & R.B. Thrush.
Aug. 5. Went to Stranberg near Lake Tahoe. 7:55 Train
on C.A.-E. Heavy fog in bay region. Cool & Sacra-
ments. Many swallows along river & upper bay.
Slate to Placerville - hot. Meadow Larks,
1 Formed Larks, Blackbirds & Mourning Doves -
Mt. Duail near American River.
At Stranberg - juncos feeding young.
Thick-billed For. Sp. singing in brush at
foot of Lovers Leap. 1 Robin singing-
Chipping Sparrow.
Aug. 6. Cold early a.m., hot middle of day - lovely
4-8 p.m. At dawn I heard the Warbling
Vireo, Blue-fronted Jay, Olive-sided Flycatcher,
Wood Pewee & Chickadee. Later - Heard
Grentailed Towhee, Flicker & Red-breasted Nuthatch.
Aug. 7. Woodpecker with small white wing patches -
Robins abundant on brush covered slope where
many berries were ripening.
