Dec. 1921. Berkeley. Anna Hummers (several. One did pendulum 9 times in succession, c. 2. 9 whistles), Black Phoebes, Brewer Blackbirds (2), Calif. Purple Finch (1), Nuttall Sparrows (many) Intermediate dp. (many), Golden-cr- Sparrows (many). Song Sparrows (many) S.F. Towhees (3), Hutton Vireo 1, Audubon Warbler, Yellow throat, Virginia Wren, Chick- adee, Bush tits, Ruby-cr. Kinglets. Hermit Thrush, Robin (2) Dec. 12. Went to Lake Merritt - Thousands of ducks in following order of abundance : Pintails, Bald Patis, Ruddy D., Shovelers, Mallard (15 pr.), 2 Ross Snow Geese . Gulls = Glaucous-w., Calif., Ringbilled, Herring (1), Pied-billed Grebe, Brewer Blackbird, Flicker and Sparrows. Dec. 14. White-Throated Sparrow (2) come in with other birds every day. Dec. 15. Hermit Thrush comes for Toyon berries often. N. Winter Wren heard often every day - Call not only - Dec. 19. Birds come in greater numbers than earlier this season but not as many as in former years Rain. Dec. 20. Rain.
