May 7. Mrs. Cole took us to Golden Gate Park. Heard Wood Peewee for first time this year as I went down the hill.
May 16. Thrushes calling more persistently but no songs.
May 18. Heard Oriole.
May 19. Coopers Club met at house. Warm.
Heard Oriole in early A.M. Thrushes singing late P.M. Vigor's Wrens finished nest began yesterday in Janie's box. I found one trying to get in May 17. Hole too small. Tapping on edges with bill. I made hole larger. May 18. I found them trying to get sticks in. Very awkward at first.
May 29. Olive-sided Flycatcher heard first time. Calling often.
Wren-lits feeding young in bushes-
Vigor's Wren in box brooding. 4 eggs.
May 31. Went to Rock Springs on Tamalpais-
Heermann Gulls with white heads on bay-
22 Cormorants seen from Sausalito boat-
On mountain side: Flicker, Vigor's Wren,
Lutescent W., Rufous-cv. Ep. Quail, S.F. Trolley.
At Rock Springs: Mourning Dove, Brewer
Blackbirds, Crows, Red-Tailed Hawk,
Calif. Woodpeckers, Meadow Lark,
