Oct. 3. James free from pain but
weak and uncomfortable. Sat up
a little while.
Oct. 4. Rained a little.
Oct. 5. Cloudy. Heard Ruby-crowned Kinglet.
Oct. 7. Allen Humines still here. (2)
Oct. 8. Beautiful day. Saw a Sharp-shinned Hawk,
Oct. 9. Saw one Ruby-crowned Kinglet with a
flock of Bush-tits. Later in 'Sunny Gulch'
Saw Ruby-cr. Kinglet, Junco, Goldfinch and
Sparrows and one Audubon Warbler.
Oct. 12. Cloudy. Fox Sparrow sang many times
at dawn. Oct. 14. Rain.
Oct. 15. Went to Alameda with Mrs. Wood and
Children. Many Dovewatches, Vireos, Goldfinch,
Black-billed Plover, Forest Thrush and Sandpiper-
Clear.
Oct. 16. Warm.
Oct. 17. Beautiful day. Saw Townsend Warbler.
Oct. 18. Hermit Thrush near house at dawn.
Golden-cr. Sp. amazing frequently. Beautiful day
Oct. 20. Large flock of geese flew over at 9:30 a.m.
Loud honking.
Oct. 21. Golden-crowned Sparrow and Intermediate
Sparrows abundant. Feeding on worms in
the oak trees. Fox Sparrow at pool,
