June 18. Auto ride to Redondo, back by Nugget Slough
where I had ½ hr. birding. Saw coots, Black-cs.
Night Herons, Tule Mice, Yellow Headed Blackbirds,
Killder Cinnamon Teal. Cormorants - Rock
of Cormorants in top of tree - Bills orange,
Cinnamon underside. Sooty shoulders,
Swam away later. At sunset. Beautiful
lights on water. Grousebeaks and Orioles
singing. Also yellow warblers and Vireos.
June 19. Boat to Santa Monica. Perfect day -
June 20. Boarded Harvard for Berkeley. Warm
and calm till midnight.
June 21. Reached S.F. at noon after very rough 9.71.
July 9. Dozens of Hummers buzz about the
yellow Mumbles on the hillside every day
Most Annas - adult males many of them.
Do males care for grown young while
females raise 2nd brood.
July 16. Thrushes song decreasing.
