Aug.20. Sorrento Road canyons, on city farm about 1-2 mi. north of crossroads (Sorrento and Delmas? roads). Branch canyons of three types. (1) Prev. veg. Juniperus wig. or agrifolia: Very few gambeli caught in this type. Favorite haunt of Nestoma. (2) Prev. veg. oats and mustard- Not many gambeli here. (3) In canyon bottom and lower sides. "Sword" grass, Diplococus, Rhus - Sambucus with Ramona covering higher slopes Together with some Asteriscea and scattered clumps of Rhus. Gambeli most abundant in this type of canyon. Best recruits obtained by trapping in or near channel. Nestoma also frequents this type of pl. association. String of 67 traps; catch as follows: Peroz. 20 (sex unde.). Reith 4 (sex unde.) Gambeli, 5g's and 7g's. Aug.21. Traps in same loc. 59 traps.
