July 10 In same loc. as on 7/9. Caught gam- beli ↑ 4 (2 yew.-2 add.) 3♀, 1 ap. preg. July 11. In lower hog ranch canyon set 10 traps next to south slope. From near elder tree by road to ¼ mi above. Gambele: - 1♀ & 5 young born in trap. 1♂ adol. in same trap. Not removed to cages until 4.45 P.M. All lived. 1♂ - ear deeply cleft. Tail scarred. Perognathus 2♂, 1♀ adol. 7/12 (1) Lower murarium canyon from bridge to state highway. 14 traps in mustard thicket. Caught: - Gambeli ↑ 3 near auto road, 1 gambeli ♀, hillside near bridge (n.side) A pocket mouse in next trap, prob. 40-50 ft. distant. Reithrodontomys: - 1♂ in lower murarium canyon - hillside below bridge - mustard & artemisia (2) Sec. string - 40 traps from hog ranch to Solidad canyon. Pre- vailing veg.- on hillsides & ridge - oats & shield. In Solidad canyon - bixtail, then mustard.
