Sept. 12 usual day with routine plots run;
wedge tail plots have been abandoned - the
amount of data we were getting was next
to nil; Wandering Tattlers are more in
evidence - Ruddy Turnstones and Golden
Plovers holding about steady.
Sept. 13 up at 6:30 A.M.; Cam got the
mice ; caught 7:30 Mike boat to
North Island ; joined Pat Meehan, Bill
Sinclair and Jim Sublett for skin diving off
the island at their invitation ; found
a "fish ball" covered with barnacles and some
shells - saw 2 Ruddy Turnstones and 2
Golden Plover ; the undersea landscape was
beautiful - 30 to 30 ft. deep with coral
heads rising to near the surface ; the area
was better diving than near the reef ; saw
Corvet fish, Squirrel fish, Butterfly fish, Tang;
Wrasse, Snappers, Trigger fish, Surgeon fish,
Parrotfish, Moorish Idols, etc. ; rainy-windy
