Lehner, P. 1964 51 Sept. 1 routine A.M. ; Dr. Arnold Joseph of AEC came over for noon chow and then Cam took him for a tour of the Island while I pressed plants and started organizing data for biweekly progress report ; Dr. Arnold has been working on radiation studies in the Marshalls (Bikini, Eniwetok, Rongelap, etc.) ; he said the island to see was Perape ; about 2:00 P.M. I spotted an unusual shorebird bobbing around the barracks - by the time I had gotten the skipper and the shotgun I couldn't find the bird again ; however, about 2:40 I again spotted the bird, got the gun and collected it - neither Cam or I can figure out what it is - definitely unusual.
