Lehner P.
1965
Jan. 12
packed two wooden crates with specimens
in preparation for mailing to Washington;
almost all the mammal specimens collected
to date were mailed (boxed); Doc and I
ran three transects across the island, sampling
the vegetation by the point center quarter
method.
Jan. 13
took an inventory of materials; Binion
called from Johnston about 11:20 A.M. saying
that he and Norm had arrived too late to
catch the M boat; at 12:40 we rode the VP
to Johnston to mail (ship) the boxes and
pick up Norm and Binion; the four of us
looked over the island and Binion found
5 Grey-backed Tern eggs on the old pier and
4 on the islet.
