Dark-rumped Petrel
Five sightings were recorded offshore Kauai on 25 June. This species, although very different in the hand, can be easily confused with Wedge-tailed Shearwaters at allbut close range in the field. A white fore crown and white crissum have been the best distinguishing characters for this specimen, but these are visible only at close range. No specimens were collected.
Bulwer's Petrel
Bulwer's Petrels were common to abundant throughout the Leeward chain. Peak days were noted on 7 June near Kaula and on 24 June near Nihoa. The species is presently starting a breeding cycle on Laysan. Three specimens were collected.

Harcourt's Storm Petrel
Atotal of 8 sightings were recorded throughout the trip. These could be either of two species: Harcourt's or Leach's. A few Leach's may still be in the area, but sightings about Kauai are almost certainly of Harcourt's. One specimen was collected offshore on the 25 June and a number of others were seen. The single collected specimen had a bare brood patch and apparently had already layed. Birds were noted both toward and from Kauai near the mouth of Waimea Canyon on 25 June. The birds showed little interest in an artificial slick. The species is almost certainly breeding on Kauai at this time.
