26 April 81 Triceon Ariz. 5975- 288. Micrathene whitneyi 5.8X15.2 I, bright yellow. Bill pale gray. Legs pale brown, sides yellow. Sent down several Gnat Bacteria leaving Woodpecker holes in them trying to find out if the Woodpeckers had commenced laying. Opening one hole I found this Owl, dead; killed by the shock of the fall. I afterward fell others hoping to have the same luck but from now more. Found fragments of eggs of the Sparrow Hawk in one hole, all the others contained nothing. Would have commenced laying in about two weeks; would have laid a large set. Stomach contained insects, mostly flies. 5976 289 Olalathorns costar 3.7X3.6 2 Dark brown. Bill & legs black.
