18 April 81 Tombstone Ariz. 5477 190 Balmakiza bicolor 6.7XII.1 8 Pale brown. Bill dark from above, light bluish below. Legs brown. Stomach contained buds and seeds. First seen this season. Several flocks seen during the day. not one per cent of which were males in full breeding plumage. Many were in various stages of molting plumage making the flocks look very particolorad. Migrants were only. Succeeded in purchasing mold horse yesterday and today we drove fifteen miles from Tombstone, crossing the San Pedro river nine miles west Brushy plains. Are taking the shortest road to Tucson. It is not much traveled now.
