3 July 81 A sand storm caught us near Casa Grande last night. I see very few birds, perhaps one an hour or an average. These are mostly Carolina Doves with an occasional White-winged Dove, some Thrushes, Cactus Wrens, Snaketators (Black-headed?) and an occasional White-rumped Shrike. Even the Turkey Culture does not come this far on the desert. 4 July 81 A heavy shower gave us a thorough soaking last night. This is the commencement of the rainy season. Had a heavy pull in the sand to get 10 miles.
