March 9. Fresh & extensive work on a Calumna
stump on the Nelson Canal. It had
evidently been done from 3.30 yesterday
P.M. when I passed the Huts & recommended
to stop & examine the stub. The character
of the chips as well as excavation left
no doubt that they were the result of a
fig. work.
