Oct. 2 A single bird on the flooded meadow at the
butte sat perfectly still with head & neck stretched
up until we were within about 60 yds. then flew
rising heavily like a crane but when once on
wing flying as swiftly as a Margarene. It cloaked
our blaze. I am nearly sure it was a Ringneck
L. Umbagog, Maine.
