Sept. 11. Two birds swimming on the calm water off the Chute cove this morning. For half an hour or more one or both of them uttered at short intervals a call repeated twice or thrice and varying from a ratting click, hollow hoo to an abrupt oh they with a human ejaculation. I heard the same calls here in September 1894.
